I know all of us in our house will have at least one bittersweet moment remembering our old dog today. She used to really enjoy Christmas. We always wrapped up a dog biscuit for her, because she did not enjoy dog toys. Weird dog.
She would take it, tear into it, tail wagging furiously and chomp up the biscuit like it was the best food in the world. Funny, because on an ordinary day, a dog biscuit got a very lukewarm reaction at best. She never bothered any other gifts, and until it was actually time to unwrap hers, she ignored them.
But after that, she was willing to help everyone open theirs. It was fun to watch. She'd growl, grasp the paper with her teeth and whip her head back and forth. And on to the next present. Which caused the same reaction. It never failed to crack everyone up. We really enjoyed it. :)
Her other endearing Christmas trait was to get her butt into nearly every photograph we took. Seriously. It was annoying at the same time that it was funny. We had to shove her around frequently during the photo ops that the holiday provided.
So, in the spirit of sharing and remembrance, I would like to give you this small token to enjoy.

It's hard to go through that first round of holidays without a beloved family member, even if the family member is a pet. Especially when it's someone who did such memorable things.
