Saying nothing important but still filling up a page....

Ever hear, 'don't just talk, say something.' ??

I guess I didn't ever actually get that memo.
:)

Missing my dog.
Cleaning up dog hair etc.
Weird to see her food dish on the counter in the laundry room, empty.
Water dish gone.

I found a dog hair on my jacket this morning and it made me cry.

But then I thought about how bewildered she was with the seizures and the pain. And I still know it was the right thing to do.

I just.. miss her.

Work is so much fun. Being there and always wanting to present the same face to the kids has been helpful for me and my emotional state this week for sure.

~~~~~~
Had my first evaluation using the new rubric on Wednesday.
I mentioned it here before. Brashley* got a few of the other site directors upset and worried over it, but I still don't understand the big deal.
Is it difficult? No. It's merely a more objective way of actually SEEING us at work. I was evaluated on how well I listened to the kids, how I handled activity transitions etc.
What's funny is, I had no idea why Georgia* was there. (yeah, color me stupid, but it's been a hell of a week and I'm mentally and emotionally drained and it didn't even occur to me that I was being observed.)
I figured she was there for something else, not sure what, and that after I got done with the activity we were doing, she'd let me know. She was just sitting at the table, writing.
Until she handed me the paper to sign off, I had no clue.
It went fine. I didn't see anything negative on it. She had some positive things to say, too.
Thing is, I am not going to change how I'm doing things unless I'm told that I'm handling something incorrectly. So she watched me do the job I'm being paid to do, found that I was doing okay, and then left.
Meanwhile, the kids created some amazing projects, which I will show you tomorrow. Back in June I found some bird houses at JoAnn for a buck each, bought 30 of them, gave them to kids and said, "Create."
And they did.
Then they made birds from Model Magic. (I love that stuff.)
I took a bunch of photos.
On Thursday, they evidently hadn't had enough sculpting, so we hauled out the dough again and they made some other things. Photos of those to follow, too.
So that's how things are going.
Oh... and on Thursday morning I had a dental cleaning. If you've been reading here awhile, you know I have had a pretty serious dental phobia (with good reason) for many years.
And I've finally reached the point in my relationship with my dentist and his staff that not only did I sleep all night on Wednesday with no fear of the upcoming exam, but I went, had the cleaning, and did fine without having to take anything for the anxiety. I had almost NO anxiety at all, really.
yay, me
  1. Applauding you on the "no anxiety" dental visit. That would never happen for me.
    I still miss my dogs and it's been years.
    Yeah, I remember that feeling of missing my dog... and two cats... and... Wait, I still do. *hugs*
    Can't imagine that you'd get anything less than a positive evaluation at work.
    Thank goodness the dental visit went well! I'm one of those weird types who likes to go to the dentist. :)
  4. A pet is a family member and when he/she dies, it's just as if a person died. It will take awhile to get used to the idea that your dog isn't around. I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sending good thoughts your way.
  5. Yeah you!
    Sometimes we all just need to fill the page and get it out there. :)
  6. I miss my Porter and Penny, too. Of course Tucker came along and helped us cope.
    Yay you for the dentist! My phobia is so deep-seated that I know I can't go unmedicated.
