So this is weird...

Based on history, every time there's a three day weekend, Eric ends up getting screwed.

No, not like that. Although now that I said that, I suppose over this particular holiday it might have a double meaning. Both of my pregnancies began over Labor Day weekend.

Hey, no one wants to go anywhere over that weekend, right? The roads are crazy.
Take Friday night. Which is where I intended to start and then I digressed. Shocking, I know.

Eric ended up having to drive up to Washington to install a pump after hours on Friday.
As he was heading home on I-84, some crazy assed big expensive car came zooming up behind him at a high rate of speed. He was sailing in and out of lanes and ended up hitting someone broadside and pinning the car to the center barrier. Three other vehicles were involved, and Eric narrowly missed being in the middle of it himself.

And the asshole who caused the wreck took off!! At speeds up to 90 MPH... which Eric knows because he didn't want the guy to get away. So he followed him. At 90. I don't know whether to slap him or slap him!

He called 911 and gave them the guy's license plate number. And kept following him.

Off the freeway and up a hill... where the guy got away.

Now here's the weird part. There were several vehicles involved in the crash. The guy LEFT THE SCENE. And there was next to nothing on the news. On one obscure channel on Friday night they said something about it, said 'the driver was caught' and then... nothing.

Nothing on the major networks.

Nothing in the Boregonian.

Nothing on any of the internet searches I could think of.

I wonder who it was? Must have been someone with a lot of money to be able to get it all swept under the carpet like that...  hmm.

  3. That does make you wonder. That pisses me off. Eric is a hero. This is one of those cases where you don't know what to do first - slap him or hug him!

  4. Maybe it was a secret government spy! Or a dog who learned to drive a car.

    (You never know.)

  9. I think you are right, someone has some money and/or influence. Any regular Joe Sixpack would have been plastered all over the headlines.

Completely unrelated note, because I do that sort of thing. Have you tried white vinegar in the super dirty work clothes wash? It is good for getting odors out. Or was it dirt and grim itself that was the main problem, not the smell?

  10. Actually, baking soda is awesome for getting odors out of the wash, too.

That guy must have been a politician. Asshole

  11. Ami, this happens all the time, but too often the driver who causes the mayhem gets away with it. It was probably because Eric called the plate # into 911 that the guy was caught. The news is full of accidents, especially on "slow news" days. I ALWAYS wonder about "the rest of the story."

Like, last Summer, I was caught in a backup going North on I-5 that lasted nearly two hours. A firetruck and two ambulances passed us, and we never saw a thing of the accident. It was cleared by the time we got there. And nothing was on the news.

Perhaps the more unusual thing is actually witnessing an accident, as Eric did.

  12. Scary! I would slap him. Must be Mr. Money Bags, or perhaps the President.

  13. So glad to hear Eric is ok, and I'm glad they caught the guy before he killed anyone!
