I know that little infection in your nose is bugging you. But leave it alone. No more Q tips. Because you really don't want to make it bleed all over hell again.. DO you?
I didn't think so. That was pretty sudden and really messy, and half a box of thoroughly blood-soaked tissues later, I sure hope you've learned your lesson.
Get the life insurance paid. Maybe you ought to pay a couple other bills while you're at it.
There's a fairly large uncashed check in the pile here on the kitchen table, too. It might be a good idea to put it in the bank. Easier to spend it that way. And it would really suck to accidentally recycle it, don't you think?
Better get started cleaning. Bob will be here in a week. Yeah, that's right. One week. During which you still need to do your regular full time job. Getting started with the cleaning early is a pretty smart idea.
Oh, and you might want to take care of the taxes.
Also, drive over to the DEQ to get your smog compliance certificate. Which they should just call 'revenue enhancement'. Fuckers.
Gee, this is shaping up to be a busy week.
You have PT twice. Acupuncture once. A dental appointment. Five 5 AM mornings.
And hey, it's nice that you have a couple medical people on your side. Awesome that one of them talked your orthopedic doctor, who does 'not prescribe that modality' into a month of acupuncture treatments.
You did a great job at work on Friday afternoon. Talking to a prospective client and introducing yourself and program to her son while checking kids in, mediating at least three arguments, tying Brian's* shoes, making sure Gabe* understood that he needed to wait for all the boys to arrive before he dived into the Lego bin and giving a hug to Alia* who is always so happy to be there that she bounces up exuberantly and announces, "HERE I AM!!"
I know you got discouraged this week with your knee and the pain. I understand it, too. After all, you've been hurting for two years now, and spent a good deal of that time either recuperating from or preparing for still another surgery. It's okay for you to indulge in a little self pity now and then.
But you've done that for the week, so now it's time to just go on. Wait for it to get better. Do your exercises and know that things will eventually get better.
You may never get used to wearing the borg implant thing on your head so you can talk on the phone while you drive if you need to. But isn't it sort of cool that you can just tell your phone to make a call and never have to touch it?
Great job with the vitamin supplements this week. You managed to remember them every day. I know they are hard to swallow. And that the really large ones tend to want to stick a little on the way down. I know they taste like shit for the first half of the day and they make you burp a little. At least you're not so shocked at the fluorescent yellow-green pee you make after taking them now.
Just keep remembering that Eric fills up that container for you every weekend because he loves you and it's important to him that you try to take those damn things every day.
Don't complain. Just do it.
You were given a great compliment this week from the principal of the school you work in, too. She came and found you to ask you to speak at (god help us) Kindergarten Roundup. She said that she'd love it if you had time to come tell people what your program has to offer, and told you that when you show up at the event that she will shuffle speakers etc to make sure you're not absent from your program for any length of time. She's going out of her way to help you add to your job. Unheard of. You must be doing something right.
I think it's cool that when Eric gets up while you're still getting ready for work in the bathroom that you stop what you're doing and wash his hair for him while he is on his knees over the bathtub. Oh, yeah, he can do it himself. And has for a long time. But those little things you do for each other are what have made you happy for so many years.
You're lucky, and don't you ever forget it.
"Smog compliance certificate?" Really? wow.
ReplyDeleteWe all have to be reminded of that last little fact from time to time.
ReplyDeleteOh, man, what a couple of weeks! Good thoughts at you!
ReplyDeleteBless you! Hang in there and make sure to find a little quiet time, just to chill.
ReplyDeleteExcellent notes ,
ReplyDelete"smog compliance?"
ReplyDeleteI thought ours was bad... we just have to shell out like 42 bucks for a sticker. :)
So THAT'S what it's like to be a fly on the wall in your mind! I was wondering.....
ReplyDeleteThis made me cry.
ReplyDeleteThe principal is absolutely brilliant to have you speak. You exude kindness and wonderment. The people are sure to want their kids in YOUR program. Go get 'em.
