I have started taking my cane to work with me again.
No, that's not the part that made me smile. That part sucks.
Liam* saw me walk in with it, lit up and said, "Hey! Now you can threaten us with your cane again!!"
:)
And after I had threatened a few kids with it (I take it and sort of smack it into the palm of my hand and they all laugh at me... no one takes me seriously!) Reese* said, "Hey! How come you threatened them and you didn't threaten ME yet?"
I took Lyssa's very old Duplo blocks in. And instead of the girls playing with all the cute little animals, the BOYS ended up playing with them. It was amusing to watch.
I think I'll probably end up keeping them there, although they won't be out every day.
Dylan told me a couple weeks ago that he is "going through puberty and wow, is it hard!"
Since he knows nothing about double entendre, I did not laugh.
Monday, when he confided to everyone at the snack table that he "has hair growing in places he never knew he'd get hair!" I did laugh. It was okay, though. No one noticed, because they were all laughing and snorting cookie crumbs all over the place.
Jamie* was picked up super early on Monday because her mom stayed home from work.
The down side was that mom didn't come get her when school was out. Instead, I had her for 25 minutes. She was snotty. As usual. But she was outa there by 3:00.
I think I like that.
Found a couple butt ugly pairs of pants that I'll be able to wear the knee brace with.
Hate wearing them, but the brace will fit under them, so at least I'll be doing what I'm supposed to.
I'm not smiling about my knee, of course. And I find it a bit ominous that it's not exactly getting better. At. All.
Wait, we're supposed to be talking about things that made me smile.
I came home to a lovely baked chicken and brown rice.
Eric doesn't like brown rice. He made a special batch just for me.
Because he loves me.
Which makes me smile.
What a wonderful guy he is.
I am heading for bed on time. It won't help, I will still want to cry when it's 5 am and it's time to get up.
But right now, it's making me smile.
The truth of ugly pants is no one but you will notice.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to the knee and the cane...hope you get some relief soon.
ReplyDeletemy son "borrowed" my cane when he was about 13 and used it hobbling halfway across the road with it then twirling it charlie chaplin style across the other side of the road...he was asked by police to cease and desist , he was destracting drivers.
Sounds like a mostly good day. want me to send you some "daisy boot" to go with the lovely ensemble?
ReplyDeleteSorry about the cane. I know that sucks!! I just love your "kid" stories. They are just so dang cute.
ReplyDeleteHope you lose the cane soon. Have a great Tuesday.
I am so glad I don't have a cane.
ReplyDeleteMy kids would ineveitably say something along the lines of being being in big trouble and getting hit with it to someone at the school, which would be TOTALLY untrue, and I'd be sitting with Child Protective Services.
Ah, the joys of parenthood...
I hope when 5 am comes miraculously you feel well rested! : )
ReplyDeleteI laughed so hard about the little boy going through puberty. How cute!
My kids would steal my cane and try to threaten me with it.... Ugly butt pants, they suck but yes you will be the only one who notices...
