Well, did I manage?

Do you remember my resolution from last year?

I sat down and thought about some of the things I've done this year to spread a little of my own good fortune around.

I have tried to be anonymous when I can, but that's not always possible. Some of the small, kind things I found to do this year were done openly. That's okay. They're still a kindness.

Which, if you believe 'them' is never wasted.
:)

I do believe them.

I've tried to keep an open heart and mind to see the opportunities to do a nice thing for someone. To see something I can do to help... a small gesture that can mean so much.

And I don't think I've done enough.

Oh sure, I've made an effort here and there, but I am going to keep the same resolution this year. And do better.

Want to join me?

I can't give away cars.
Big splashy millions.
I'll never be a famous philanthropist.

But I sincerely believe that if everyone tried to do a small thing whenever possible, it would add up.

It's not a new concept. Didn't originate with me.
But I love the way it makes me feel.

So really, doing stuff for other people is selfish.

;)

  1. sounds like a wonderful attitude to begin 2011; ARC...acts of random kindness and I think I'll join you...I don't think of it as a resolution but more as a way of life and couldn't we all tweak our attitude?

    Happy 2011!

    Hi Ami

Happy New Year From Southern California.

Don't forget to watch the 122nd Rose Parade on New Year's Day coming from Pasadena, California...only 30 miles from The Old Geezer's home :-) If you miss the live telecast, I'm sure there will be lots of reruns through out the day.

  8. I like that. I'll follow. Although I want to make it more specific, otherwise I won't stick to it. Maybe, smile to a stranger on my way to work every morning...

  11. Finally. A resolution I can keep. I am totally with you. :)

Do we get to blog about it, or does it have to be like a super secret ninja mission?

  12. Mmm. I think that blogging about it is perfectly acceptable and might give other people ideas about small things they can do.

It's just that for me, I've been on the receiving end of help, and sometimes, it's really hard to accept.

So I try to keep it between me and one or two people, if that makes sense.

It's really up to you... blog about it or not.
A kindness is still a kindness.
    :)
