Caption this photo....

I don't care if it rains or freezes
long as I got my plastic Jesus...

Or....

Rub a dub dub, Jesus in a tub.

I can't decide.

Understand I'm not making fun of the theme.

It's just that both those little ditties go through my head every time I look across the street and see where they parked the manger.

I still miss santa's baby but I did get a smile out of this year's choice of decor.

Now I have no room to talk about decorating. We set up the tree on December 23rd.

Just before my parents arrived on December 24th, we cleaned the house a bit.

Let me translate that for you. We dusted. Vacuumed. Swept. Washed some curtains. Got rid of some clutter.

Then, it got close to arrival time.

And I tossed all kinds of shit into my bedroom and shut the door about 20 minutes before I threw a Christmas tablecloth on my kitchen table, Matt and I decorated the tree, and I watered the poinsettia.

My parents arrived as I was hiding the ornament boxes in the corner behind the tree.

:)

And as I write this on ::clicking little digital readout thingy at the bottom to see date:: December 27th, I am planning to get rid of the Christmas tree and decorations tomorrow.

So I'm certainly no Martha Stewart.

But all through the season it made me smile to see the display across the street when I went out to get in my car.

  1. It looks like they are planning on cooking him! Weird. See? There's some greens and maybe some seasonings and, of course the main dish on top. That would make me laugh, too.

  4. It looks like they aren't planning on changing Baby Jesus' diaper throughout the season, so they provided an overflow tub, LOL.

    I don't take decorations down until January 2nd. What's wrong with you?! THAT'S how it's done. ;-)

  6. Isn't it usually Mary in the bathtub?? Or is that just a midwest thing? See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bathtub_Madonna. . .

  7. Nothing says Christmas like a plastic Jesus.

And really... Why water the Ponitsetta, it's just gonna die anyway. :)

  8. Ya, it's about time the tree came down. January is always a long month. Let's just get on with it already!

  9. We don't take out outside decorations down until the girls go back to school. It just means so much for them to have the Nativity outside each year. This year, they'll be pulled in and put away on the 4th. The tree comes down sometime after that. Last time, it took over a year to get down. LOL. This year, it won't take quite that long, but I'm not in any hurry to get it down. I'll probably take it down after Mom goes home to make things easier on the girls.
