So I wandered over to the art table where Drew* was busily drawing and cutting out.
He excitedly showed me the things he was working on.Here's the first one. The silhouette after cutting. Really caught my attention.

Then, I saw what he had cut out. Yeah, that's it below.
Drew is six. So I asked him calmly, "What is that?"
And in a scathing tone, reserved for insufferably stupid people, he said, "It's a sword."
From the sound of his voice, you'd think he was addressing someone quite slow. (He's really quite snotty at times.)
It was sort of a, "WELL DUH!!!" that I got from him.
I wonder if I could show him these pictures in a few years and see what he thinks.
I get lots of those pictures. They are mostly rockets or missiles. Snort.

ReplyDeleteWhat I absolutely love is the ability of a child to so clearly see what they've drawn and the utter disdain for those who can't. :)
