Everyone's favorite Momster tagged me on April 21st with an 'answer the questions' meme. And I have to apologize for taking so long to get to it, I usually am faster, but, well, you know.

And I had such a good time answering the questions from her adorable daughter Miss Mayhem this week.

I like doing these... gives me something to write about.

So to the questions I must answer!

->How did you find my Green-Eyed Momster blog?
I am pretty sure you found me first and left me a comment. I followed you back to your blog, as I do whenever that happens (provided the person commenting has a blog, that is...) and found a lovely person with a good dose of snark, attitude, and a sense of humor. And I'm still reading EVERY time you post.

->What do you consider the one thing you can't live without?
I think it's totally unfair for you to ask me to choose just one thing.
So I'm not going to answer this.
Because, like, look how edgy I am.
A rebel.
Ha.

->How many animals do you have?
I have a geriatric dog, Maggie. She will be 14 in June and as she ages and gets gray and arthritic, I get sad. She's a real sweetheart who loves her family and still comes to the door to greet each of us as we come in from various activities, wagging her tail furiously and sneezing with excitement.

When we send her out of the room while we're eating, she snorts at us in disgust. It's hysterical.

She may not be able to talk, but she communicates very well. She lets us know when she's hungry by sitting and staring at us.

She is pretty verbal at times, she doesn't bark, but she growls and makes noises while talking to us.

We all love her.


->What's your favorite movie of all time.

No problem answering this one. The entire memory of it is encapsulated in a bubble of time.

The Sound of Music

I saw this in a movie theater in 1965. I did not turn five until December of that year, which means I was four years old.

I went with my mother and my grandmother.
In those days, one still dressed up for the occasion.
My grandmother wore a dark green dress and her mink. She wore white gloves, and kept her hands clasped on her purse for most of the show.

I sat between them. I wore a red dress, a white sweater, and black patent leather shoes. Little ruffly ankle socks and my own small purse and gloves.

My mom wore a yellow dress with big white polka dots. White shoes, white purse and white gloves.

I did not understand the larger political story that was the movie... what I understood best was that the children had no mother.

Oh. And the music.
Even at four, music touched my soul.

I wept at the end of that movie as the children hiked over the mountains with their new mother (my grandmother pulled a lace hankie out of her purse and put her left arm around me as I cried) ... and 45 years later, listening to certain parts of the soundtrack can still make me cry.

No movie has ever touched me the way that one did.

If you clicked on that link, you only get a tiny bit of the experience... also included in that collection is one of the actual costumes worn by Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music. I have seen it. How cool is that?

It's very, very small, by the way. It would probably fit one of my third graders.

->What's the first thing you'd do if you won a million dollars?

I would call my husband and tell him that he just retired from his job.


And as strange as it sounds, I don't know if I'd quit my job... at least not right away.

How weird is that?
