Cattin' around

No, not me.
Funny how your mind went there first.

Hmph.

One (or all, hell, I don't know) of the neighborhood cats is in heat.
How do I know?

The cat sits in MY yard calling out to all the other cats.
Yesterday (Thursday) morning, it was around 3:15.

Today it was about 4:20.

How long does a hot cat stay hot?
I don't know.

Eric had to go out and chase it away. Again.

And that was the end of my sleep for the night. Not that it matters much at this point.

But it did remind me of a post I wrote a few years ago and how my kids have always made me laugh.

From October 2006

A couple nights ago, I heard some cats in my front yard.

You know how first it sounds like a baby?
That's what woke me up.

I laid there a minute and listened.

They got louder and louder, and it wasn't long before the bit of sleepiness I had left departed and I knew what was going on.

Eric got up and chased them away.

It made me think, though.
Wouldn't it be a pain in the ass if every time people got amorous some big mean person came and chased them away?

Then, I remembered an incident that happened when our daughter was seven. We had been awakened in the night with what sounded like the mother of all kitty orgies.

The next morning, we were driving my son up to the local institution for his choir class, and I asked the kids if they had heard the cats in the night.

Matt hadn't, but Lyssa had.

I said something about how annoying the noise was and how I didn't like hearing it and being awakened, and she said, "But Mom... you didn't get the translation!"

Then, with two different voices, masculine first, she said, "OOhh, you have be-yoo-ti-ful fur."

Then the girl cat said, "And you're a powerful hunter! Let's have sex!"

Then Lyssa made screamy cat noises and I nearly drove off the road laughing.

I am going to see my doctor this morning.
Maybe she can help me get some sleep?

Wouldn't it be awesome if she could give me something that would help me sleep through cat 0rgies?

  2. Nothing like cat romance to start your day! Happens here ,then the peacocks next door get going and to top it all off Skeeter will rush outside barking his little face off to shut them up! Move to the country and enjoy the peace and quiet...NOT
