June?

Wow.

June already.

My kids will have birthdays in a few weeks, Lyssa on the 18th and Matt on the 22nd.

She will be 16 and he will be 22.
I won't say the usual... how did time go by so fast... but inside my head? Inside my head I'm wailing, "But where did my little ones go?"

Last Monday, I went to a party at my friend Tami's house. One of the people I hung out with for awhile is someone I've known for about twelve years. We've both seen each other's kids growing up, and we always have catching up to do when we meet.

We were talking about how much easier it is to have older kids.

Our ponderings were helped along by the hyper little guy who dashed past us approximately every eleven seconds, usually carrying a sharp stick, running full-tilt into whoever or whatever got in his way.

His parents had their hands full just keeping him alive, keeping his nose wiped and explaining why he should not be rolling in the moldy grass that was under the big blue tarp.

It is easier to have older kids. I don't have to wipe their noses (or anything else), they do their own laundry, and often surprise me by having all the dishes done when I get home from work, and they're both really interesting people. I like them quite a bit.

But I had so much fun with them when they were little people.

Oh. And I was younger then, too.
