Socialization in our grand multi-cultural experiment we call America is a process that takes more than an hour a day, a few times a week. Homeschooling, undoubtedly, leaves the child unprepared socially.

I would never suggest that participating in activities with public school kids could be construed as adequate socialization OR teach proper social skills. You obviously haven't been paying attention while you're there.
Socialization and being social are not the same thing, by the way.
Look it up.
(I realize I'm assuming a lot here, but I'd think a person who has so many wonderful college degrees would be able to use a dictionary.)
As for being 'unprepared socially'... um, no.
But I have nothing to gain from convincing you. In fact, I don't really care if you ever 'get' it.

ReplyDeleteMy son said that to someone who was toying with him and asked about socialization. T said, "Socialization and being social aren't the same thing". The guy was taken aback and duly impressed. Good thing my 15 year old spent an hour or two a week with school kids.
