Everyone knows that the moment our new president took the oath of office, everything became magical.Fairies and unicorns and flowers and chocolate and multiple orgasms for us all. (simultaneously, according to Tami)...
Oh yeah, and money. Everyone can just stop worrying.
Now you may think I'm being sarcastic, and you'd probably be right most of the time. But not today!! Oh no no no!!
Guess what?!!
I have already received notice that I will be getting my own, personal economic stimulus package!
Yes, through the magic of email and the fact that the federal government is there to help us (yes, that's right, they are. Every one of those rich, out-of-touch assholes wants you and me to do well.)
Directly from my email on Tuesday night... here's the proof:
After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a Stimulus Payment.
Oh baby, stimulate me! Yes! Yes!!
Please submit the Stimulus Payment Online Form in order to process it.
Submit? NOT a problem. Which position shall I assume?
A Stimulus Payment can be delayed for a variety of reasons.
For example submitting invalid records or applying after the deadline.
Invalid? Is that like when my feet are really sore and all I want to do at the end of the day is sit down... or even better, put them up high? (and yes, I know exactly what I'm saying, thanks.)
To submit your Stimulus Payment form, please download the attached document.
Oh, you mean I just click on that little box that says 'download' and the form will just appear? Wow, will wonders never cease?!
Note: If filing or preparation fees were deducted from your 2007 Refund or you received a refund anticipation loan, you will be receiving a check instead of a direct deposit.
Regards,
Internal Revenue Service
So after I download the form, I'm guessing they'll need my bank account information and perhaps a copy of my driver's license and social security card. I'm sorry, I just don't have time to blog today, I need to go make some copies.
My gosh! I wonder how much I'll get!! I'm just all a-twitter.
hey did you report this to the IRS. seriously. you should do that. I'm sure more than one person would be fooled by that.
ReplyDeleteAND I have ocean front property in Arizona to sell you..it is a scam. Look it up on Snopes. Sorry...
ReplyDeleteOh darn, I thought it was real.
ReplyDelete;)
Well hell, I guess I better return the new car and the 40 thousand dollars worth of stuff I charged on my credit card last night.
Hmph.
Hey, forward me that form, will ya? I want some extra money too! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLOL... this post is precious. Love it. Does anyone really buy that crap? I mean by e-mail... come on!!!
ReplyDeleteAmi, you made my day.
LOL. Oh you mean I shouldn't have given them all that information? Well it did say it was from the Internal Revenue Service. That means I should just give them every little thing about me right?.... How anyone falls for these things I will never know.
ReplyDeleteI guess there is a sucker born every minute.LOL!!If so for a small fee you can help me free up my financial hardship and better your finances too.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! I wonder when I will get my e mail for money. I have a few *friends* I would like to pass that on to..
ReplyDeleteOn August 23, 1968 at 11:24 a.m., I am the sucker that was born!
ReplyDeleteI totally thought that was real! But, I'm quite certain I wouldn't have done it if I received it--not because i'm intelligent, but because i'm paranoid and don't trust the IRS!
I think my age is really catching up to me; when I was younger I was so savvy and worldly, and now i'm falling for internet scams. I see my future now: I'll marry a handsome, personable man much younger than I who claims that I set his world on fire, and two months later he'll abscond with my life's savings. And then I'll be on some pathetic cable show about old women and hustlers.
I'm so glad I didn't get the IRS email!
Well, if you'd seen the email, I'm pretty sure that none of you would have fallen for it.
ReplyDeleteIt was in a small font, no official seals or anything like that, and did not have my name or address on it. And really, don't you think it would be signed differently than 'Regards, Internal Revenue Service'?
Also, only the fiscally irresponsible are receiving money.
Hmph.
Ya....like the IRS is going email you that eh? People will try anything to take advantage of people.
