Yesterday it was my birthday... I hung one more year on the line.

That's a line from the Paul Simon song Have A Good Time... and it's true, too.

Yesterday, it was my birthday.

Tami and her entire family came to my house around noon, sang Happy Birthday to me, and brought me gifts! Presents! For me!!
Yes, that's right.
They pulled up out front, everyone piled out of the car, they came to my front porch and they all sang to me.

Do any of you even know anyone like that?

Until I met them, I did not. I'm betting that people like them are pretty rare. Thank you thank you thank you so much. What a sweet thing to do! I'm once again shocked at the idea that someone likes me that much. Wow.

Then, I went to work. I bought some cookies on my way there. The kids were happy to get them, and most of them wished me a happy birthday.

While I was there, our program administrator came bringing envelopes. One for each of the three staff members at our site. Got my hours cut. I've been closing every day so that Sunshine can spend that time in the evening with her little boy. She was making up the hours with administrative tasks and it worked well for both of us.

Well, those hours were cut for her. So, Sunshine will be closing daily and I'll be losing a few hours a week. I'm not thrilled about losing the hours, but coming home at 5 instead of six does have its good side for sure. I am still watching the ads in case something good shows up, but man, it's hard to find a job out there!

I came home a little after six, expecting to eat leftover chili and whatever I could rustle up from the refrigerator.

We rarely go out for dinner... we can eat much cheaper here at home, and the food is better. Also, we know who prepared it. A definite plus.

Eric was outside grilling me a steak and cooking mushrooms.

Matt baked me a cake. Decorated it. I'll post it on here later this morning. You'll love it.

My parents called. I talked with good friends online. Opened my email and had some great birthday wishes.

It was a good day. :)

Call me a big dirtbag! I deserve it. I forgot to wish my birthday sister a good one. Considering I didn't actually one single minute to myself didn't help! I'm sorry.

    Happy Belated. :O)
