Sleepy Sunday

It's not going to be hot today. We may reach 80 degrees. Perfect.

Yesterday it was 93 here. Too hot for me. Yeah, I know I whined about the cold just last week, but now I'm whining about the heat. I can do that. It's my blog. That's why my face looks so grumpy. See?

We went out to Oxbow Park. It wasn't cool there, exactly, but cooler than it was here at home.
The Sandy River runs through the park. It's a big river ordinarily, but right now, it's HUGE. The water level is extremely high. It's also cold, as it's fed with snow melt. We had so much snow this winter, and then the unseasonably warm temperatures hit. The river was flowing very fast and was very cloudy with sediment. I can't imagine anyone would want to go swim in it, but there were people all along the banks. I even saw really small kids up to 15 feet away from their parents.

While we were picnicking, we heard sirens. Not too long after, an ambulance, a fire truck, and two police cars went by in a pretty big hurry on their way down to the boat ramp. We waited for a bit, and then the ambulance slowly drove by us, no sirens, no lights. The fire truck and the police left shortly after. I worried that someone had lost a loved one to the river (happens at least twice a year) but there was nothing on the news about it, so I am thinking that it was a happy ending.

We took our cameras out, and had a great time just indiscriminately snapping pictures. (there were 214 to go through.)When I've had time to edit a few, I'll put them up. Lyssa got quite creative with some of her shots.

We're liking the camera. When I got it, I charged the battery. We used the same battery without having to recharge it until last night. I had to get out the spare battery and put it in the camera to finish putting the pictures on the computer.

Got home a little before seven last night. Matt helped unload the car, then went to bed since he had to be at work at midnight. The rest of us were still up when he emerged from his room to get ready. He left, and we all went to bed. Now we're up, and he's sleeping. It's really weird to have him on a shift that doesn't match the rest of us. I keep telling myself it's only for a few months until he graduates and gets a different job.

I have a really exciting day of laundry, dishes, clutter reduction, Girl Scout meeting planning, a wardrobe switchover (all my short sleeved shirts are in the shed) and changing the bed. Oh. And grocery shopping.

Do I know how to live or what?

  1. I could never work the graveyard shift. I think I would most certainly go out of my mind, or die. Or both.

Do you have a photo card you could slip into the slot on the 'puter to download photos - saves your camera battery.
