I'll just put a toe in, thanks...

Tonight is the first water aerobics class.

I signed up with Tami. I don't think either one of us would do it alone. At least I wouldn't.

But it's COLD outside. (30 this morning.) Now I know that I'm a weenie and that 30 isn't bone-chillingly cold to the vast majority, but it is to me.
I hate cold weather. When I was a kid, I didn't even notice it, but I am not a kid now. I notice.

It's going to get a little warmer today, but by tonight at 8:45, just about the time we'll be getting in the pool, it's gonna be cold again.

It's an indoor pool, but the trip back out to my car and driving home will be interesting. The pool is only about five minutes from here, though.

I have an old sweatshirt and pair of sweatpants I will put on. A big heavy coat. Socks. Shoes. I'm hoping to keep my hair mostly dry.

I'll be cold and whiny when I get home, but won't get any sympathy from Eric. We have been going to bed around nine for several years because we get up so early. By signing up for this class, I've cut at least an hour out of our regular amount of sleep twice a week for the next couple months. I talked it over with him before signing up. He's a very supportive guy, and said he was fine with it, but he's also someone who likes to harass his wife. I'm sure he'll get great mileage out of this one.

It will be interesting.

p.s.
I still have the residual headache that lingers on for a few days after a big one and I'm going back to bed for an hour or two. I left choir early last night so I could try to get a little extra rest. One of the other women in the alto section was wearing some weird perfume that smelled sort of like bathroom spray. That was not helpful.

Actually I think you'll be fine. I seem to remember from my swimming days that I'd always walk out nice and warm, because getting dressed and drying hair in a very short time really made me warm up quickly. Then a coat and a cap and you won't even notice the cold weather.

Or so I SEEM to remember... :)

  2. I used to go to water aerobics with my ex-wife sometimes. Talk about a good workout! But I always wondered. Do people sweat under water? And if they do, then is the pool just a big bath in other peoples' sweat? Not helpful, I know.

Good luck getting back to the car. I hate cold weather, too.

  3. I used to go for early morning swims a lot, sometimes in the winter. I'd always take a HOT shower (followed by lots of lotion, gotta love the dry winter air), and blow-dry my hair before I left. I was always so warm by the time I got done with that, the cold air outside felt refreshing.

Hope you had a great first class.

  4. I'm a summer person myself. Maybe it wont be that bad. I'm glad your head ache is better.

I don't think I would be brave enough to face the water in such cold temperatures. I am not a water person at the best of times, let alone in that temperature outside.
