Since some of you could not understand all the words to the song I posted two days ago here. , I typed 'em up so you can.
Fredrick Silver is the composer of this really clever song, and although it's more than 30 years old, choirs still dust it off and sing it around Christmas. At the Community choir concert I attended this month, four ladies sang the song together. It was very cute, but I'm still more fond of the very first version I performed in.
We had rubber chickens. :)
The first day after Christmas, my true love and I had a fight.
And so I chopped the pear tree down, and burned it just for spite.
Then with a single cartridge, I shot that blasted partridge my true love gave to me.
The second day after Christmas, I pulled on the old rubber gloves. And very gently wrung the necks of both the turtle doves (my true love gave to me)
The third day after Christmas, my mother caught the croup. I had to use the three French hens to make some chicken soup.
The four calling birds were a big mistake for their language was obscene.
The five gold rings were completely fake and they turned my fingers green.
The sixth day after Christmas, the six laying geese wouldn’t lay.
I gave the whole darn gaggle to the A.S.P.C.A.
On the seventh day what a mess I found... all seven of the swimming swans had drowned. (My true love yadda yadda)
The eighth day after Christmas, before they could suspect...
I bundled up the 8 maids a milking, 9 pipers piping, 10 ladies dancing, 11 lords a leaping, 12 drummers drumming... (well, actually I kept one of the drummers) and sent them back collect.
I wrote my true love, we are through love, and I said in so many words, "furthermore your Christmas gifts were for the Birds (four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves... and a partridge in a pear treeeee-eee –eeee eeee
Now, off to the shower. I'm going Goodwill hunting with my oldest kid. Kid #2 is about fed up with shopping and would rather stay home and admire her new iPod.
I went to www.youtube.com and found the song. It was wrong!, but a funny wrong! LOL! You crack me up!

ReplyDeleteIt is pretty funny. Definitely a different take on an old traditional song. It might even be better than Bob & Doug McKenzie's version.
I was over lurking the other day (as I have on various occasions, since I am confessing before New Years) and I couldn't understand all the words, so I am glad I came back and found them. They are funny and it would be a fun thing to do in theatre. The kids and I go to a drama camp that our school board puts on and we enjoy doing the plays and stuff there. A requirement is one participating parent. It has been a wonderful growing experience for me over the years and one that Sirdar avoids, but perhaps one day before all the kids are grown he will decide he needs to stretch into the realm of theatre.
