Okay, I am sort of impressed. I mean they're still a bunch of gorillas, with few if any redeeming qualities, and I'll be glad when they're gone.
But I've never seen anything like the work they did yesterday.
All the concrete work I've ever seen done was done in a very specific way. First, guys brought lots and lots of wood and nails and hammers. Then, they built a framework, using iron rebar and making lots of noise. Then, a big truck (a cementMIXider truck! as my son used to say.. always with the exclamation) would come and pour gray liquid into the forms, leave it for days and days, and then, like magic... it would be a sidewalk and curb.
This wasn't like that. First, a cementMIXider truck pulled up outside. Then, a weird piece of equipment with an equally weird operator positioned itself over the gravel area that's been made. The cement truck poured cement into an orifice in the front of this piece of equipment as both vehicles moved slowly along the trench. And I'll be darned if the curb didn't emerge fully formed from the back end of the second vehicle!
No forms.
It's still a pain in the ass to have all this going on. I'm still grumpy.
But it was sort of cool.

Here is you a virtual chocolate and coffee!
ReplyDeleteI understand the so busy week. Thank you for checking in on me. I do feel some better, but weak! I haven't been this sick in a long time! This week has really sucked.
ReplyDeleteThanks girl!
YOu know, at first I thought I was getting the flu. Odd chills and sweats. Shaking. Aches and pains. Pounding headache.
ReplyDeleteThen I realized what it REALLY was.
Withdrawal symptoms from the Ami.Mental blog.
Yes, clearly I am addicted. Days have gone by without any new additions and my brain and body are in full denial.
Please send a fix soon. I still have children to raise so I can't die yet.
