I would rather have stayed back at my parent's house, trying to sleep, but Mom had talked my other brother into bringing his wife and kids too, and had her heart set on a family picture. Steve and his wife drove all the way from Prineville for it.
As we were leaving my parent's, big black clouds started rolling around the valley. It did not look like promising weather. The weather report said to expect 'destructive winds' that day. They were right.
As we were settling in down on the lower pasture area by the barn, a HUGE gust of wind came up and pulled the stakes and ropes out of the ground and flipped the tarp all the way over the top of the barn. It was amazing. I could see the wind gust as it continued down the valley, whipping up limbs and debris. It didn't whirl like a tornado, but it was pretty strange. We packed it all up and took it to the main house. And right after that, the wind stopped. Of course.
I brought my new camera, the tripod, the flash unit etc and trying to be nice, told Judy that I'd take family pictures.I felt awkward since it wasn't technically my family, but everyone was really nice.
I wish I could show you a few family pictures, they turned out very well, but I haven't asked the people in them if they'd mind being on my blog.
I can show you a couple of the scenery. It's very green there this time of year. Wait a month or so, and things will start to brown a bit, but right now, it's pretty, don't you think?
It does look nice there. I have been to Oregon a couple of times and really enjoyed the weather. Of course, there wasn't a wind storm when I was there.
ReplyDeleteUgh sorry about the wind but it sounds like you had a good time anyway :). Like the pics :D.
