Let's say that you have 50 things to do, but you don't have time to do all of them.
So you do one.
That leaves 49 things needing to be done.
So why bother doing even one?
I mean, there's not much difference between needing to get 49 or 50 things done, right?
So the fact that I've accomplished, well, nothing this week shouldn't make me feel bad, right?
I did get a bunch of paperwork together and go talk to someone about refinancing our mortgage on Tuesday, but I really didn't get a feeling of confidence about the guy. He had given me a list via email of the paperwork he wanted, and I brought it all with me.
And then he asked me for documents I had not included in the envelope. Then looked at me as if I were not quite bright when I said he had not asked for those and that I did not bring them.
He was trying to find the current value of our home, but was a little confused on how to use the www.
I got the feeling that our business wasn't really important to him, that he sees so many wealthier people wanting to refinance that we were just a couple clowns in a parade full of floats and firetrucks. Beneath his notice.
You want to feel like a person is going to be your advocate, ya know? And I did not get that feeling at all.
So this morning, I will take my packet of papers to someone else. I talked to him on the phone yesterday afternoon. It sounds like this company may be a better fit for us.
I worked a full shift at my regular location yesterday afternoon. I may have overtaxed the knee a bit, (I stood up an awful lot) but it's not too bad this morning.
It has, however, started making an annoying popping sound when I step on it. I don't know if it's audible to the general public, because the general public isn't here right now. Because I can feel the pop at the same time I think I hear it, it's possible that what's really clear is my perception instead of the noise. Time will tell.
I was considering getting a walker with a seat to take to work, but I just can't bring myself to do it. It's probably the most sensible approach, but it makes me feel like a little old lady. If I'm still crutching on Monday, I'll re-evaluate. My armpits are a little sore. If I had a walker with a seat, I could carry a few things around at work, too, which would be quite helpful.
Eric asked me last night what I'd like to do for Mother's Day this year. He usually cooks the meal of my choice and serves it to me, which I find very sweet.
He's a good cook, too. He often cooks dinner since he's home before I am. Last night he cooked chicken breasts with a garlic butter paste brushed on. Tasty.
I think I'll keep him.
lucky you. about the bullying, by the way, with about a full page letter full of you need to do somethings or my daughter will defend herself, they got a 2 line response and say that the dean of students will get a copy of the email. this is the response "I have really tried very, very hard to get this situation settled. I have spent HOURS with all three girls. I am sorry you are not satisfied. The other two girls have been in tears for two days as well and have not wanted to come to school either. " That is SUCH BS. If they were talking to the counselor for HOURS then they wouldnt be in classes, now would they? and as far as the tears go on 2 of the 3 harrassers? how much of that sounds to you like 'oh shit, I dont want to get in trouble, boo hoo! I dont want to go to school because I might get in trouble? boo hoo?" hmm. yeah. it never changes does it?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking my new motto will be "Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow..." You like?
ReplyDeleteI'm with you about the 50 things to do. I took 5 days off from work next week and I wish I could take a vacation since I work harder at home than at work...

ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's day!
I hate weeks where I haven't got more than a couple things done. I think it is a good idea to find a good fit for re-mortgaging. When we were looking for a place to buy sports equipment for our program, we went with the place that had the friendly helpful guy.
ReplyDeleteWe have walkers here. Of course that doesn't help you. I am thinking I should keep them around in case we need them for something.
