Grace. (Or, The Harder They Fall)

Eric got up this morning at 7 friggin' o' clock.

Um, HELLO? It's Saturday!!!!

Maggie wanted to go outside, so he let her out. Then, he headed for the bathroom.

I said, "Hey, let the dog back in, will you?" because every time she is left outside and he goes to the bathroom, she whines to come in, or she hears someone fart eight blocks away and starts barking and even though I don't want to get up because it's SEVEN A.M. I have to get up and bring her in anyway.

So he came back in the living room, opened the sliding door to let her in, and she just sat on the porch, looking at him.

So he informed me that she didn't want to come in and left her out anyway.

I swear, no one listens to me around here.

As soon as he went into the bathroom and got, er, situated, I heard her start barking her stupid head off.

I jumped out of bed and ran for the back door to get her.

To get into the living room, one steps down.
Don't call it a sunken living room, though, because that implies that it was designed that way. I think what really happened is that when the former owner of the house turned the two car garage into the living room, it was just too much trouble to level everything.

Oh hell, there I go on a tangent again.

I left off at the part of the story that had me running for the back door, and down the 'trip step' as we call it.
I tripped. Caught my little toe in the crappy old carpet (I felt/heard it SNAP!) and fell very hard on both knees and both wrists.

You know, I'm too old for that kind of shit.

So anyway. I'm supposed to go get feet worked on today, since the left one has been hurting me so much. I'm really tired of hobbling around for a portion of each day, and getting sick of waking up in the middle of the night because I moved it wrong.

So tell me.
Do you think it will be fun to have my feet worked on while I have a broken toe?

  1. Oh dear, a broken toe :(

Hope it doesn't hurt too much while your feet are getting worked on.

    Blasted dog.

  2. Well this is not an official entry, so even if I win the panties, I'll mail them back postage due, LOL.

Too bad about your toe - bummer.

I would be careful trying to get your feet worked on. That sounds like a recipe for lots of curse words and a possible uncontrolled reflex that might include kicking someone directly in the face.

Take your camera - that could be worth blogging about.

Glad you're not going anywhere ;-)

  3. I am not a feet work person. Maybe you can get a motion sensor for the trip step. As one gets close to it an alarm goes off to remind you to step!

You are hilarious. I feel for you with the broken toe and other foot pain. I must say, the scenario is more familiar than I care to have it. Perhaps that is why it struck me as funny in that sick kind of way. I hope you are healing well.

  7. I've broken the little toe on my left foot once, and on my right foot twice. Kicking the corner of a doorway or coffee table. Blech.

I hope it didn't hurt too bad to have your feet worked on. Thankfully, it should only hurt for another 4 or 5 weeks :P Tight socks help.
