WHY is it that when I'm really, really tired the whole world conspires against letting me get some damn sleep??! Huh?! WHY?!?!?
We can hear the freeway when our bedroom window is open. During the summer, of course, the window is open. The traffic ebbs and flows, and I wear earplugs to help me sleep. They make my ears itchy. I don't know if I'm allergic to them or if my ears just get irritated, but it's aggravating to try to sleep when your ears itch... and taking OUT the earplugs makes it noisy.
The Clampetts are moving out. They were up sort of late last night making noise. I'm not sure what they were doing out there, but it was close to eleven when they finally stopped. I know that's not late for some of you, but we try to be in bed around nine most nights since we get up so early.
Matt got home around five yesterday evening, and while I'm thrilled to have him back, he had to leave for work around midnight. That means he was up at 11:30, showering and packing a lunch. He's very considerate, and works hard to be quiet, but he's been gone eight days and I have gotten used to sleeping through. So last night, after the Clampetts quieted down and I fell asleep, it wasn't long until I was awakened by my son getting ready for work.
I woke up at two because I had to go to the bathroom, and again at 3:45 because the dog was having a dream and making all kinds of noise. As we were drifting back off, she farted. That didn't make any noise, but the crackling of my nose hairs crisping when the smell reached me sure did.
Now, add strange and twisted dreams to the intervals when I was actually asleep, and imagine being jolted awake by strange images and thoughts at least four times.
So I'm a little grumpy and tired this morning. I'd really like to go back to bed, but I almost never do that. Besides, today is busy.
Today's exciting to-do list is as follows:
Get away from the computer.
Take a shower.
Get Lyssa up.
Get her to take a shower.
Wait for Matt.
Load all of us into the car for our trip to the dentist and our six month checkups/cleanings. Matt has ortho adjustment this morning, too.
We'll be at the dentist office until noon, because our appointments are back to back with the same hygienist.
Stop at Winco and Goodwill on the way home.
(Alyssa will complain, but that's what she does. If she didn't complain, I'd think there was something wrong.)
Call work and find out what my schedule is for the week.
I know that I'll be working Wednesday for sure, (more hours! Yay!!) because we have a field trip.
I'm going to ask Sunshine to assign Ariel* to my group again, because I will make sure she's just like the other kids for the day. If that means I need to spend another ten bucks on her, I am more than willing to do so.
I need to start going through stuff here at home. I have some boxes to fill so I can get rid of clutter. I am sure I'll run out of boxes long before I run out of clutter, but this house and mess are once again getting ridiculous. I always have good intentions, and want to start back to work in the fall with a clean house, but never quite seem to manage it.
I'm going to get Lyssa to go through her closet and get rid of clothes, too. She has bunches she doesn''t wear and it would be good for her to make some room in there in case the clothes fairy visits before she starts high school.
The shoe fairy already bought her a pair of bright green Converse high tops. She is thrilled. The shoe fairy has promised her a red pair, too.
That shoe fairy is some kind of strange, huh?
Okay. I'm going. Too much to do and not enough time to do it all.
Hope you have a great day inspite of all your rush! I sure do understand!
ReplyDeleteHope your hubby knows what kind of flowers I have. THe sure are pretty.
Okay, you must forgive me for sending you this link. It's just too funny... and as I read the word grumpy here I couldn't help thinking of this song. :)

I get grumpy too, when I don't get enough sleep.
Yikes! Your going to have to join the ranks of the insomniacs, that way no matter how much or how little sleep you get . . . it won't matter because you'll just be bitchy anyway, LOL.
ReplyDeleteHope you get it all done today!
Ariel is so lucky to have stumbled into your group. I'm sure she'll have a blast on the next field trip!
ReplyDeleteUgh sorry you didn't get much sleep. That happens to me too for some reason ugh. Once you get waken up it's hard to go back to sleep and then something else happens ugh. I hope you are having a good day even with the lack of sleep and hope you can sleep tonight!!
ReplyDeleteI think I found the name. Plus, I would like to invite you to my give away.

lol... music for aardvarks. Hee hee.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link.
:)
It doesn't matter when you go to BED, doing loud stuff outside after 9 is just bad raisin'. We are up SO late sometimes, but never do anything that makes noise after it gets dark. People have kids and odd work shifts and migraines and stuff. Doing loud stuff outside at 11 is just inconsiderate.
ReplyDeleteI hope you didn't end up having a sleep-deprivation-induced breakdown. I get grumpy not from lack of sleep, but from the things keeping me from sleeping. By the time I went through what you went through, I'd be SUCH a bitch - not because I was tired but because everyone in this house is a selfish jerk!! and the neighbors are dicks!! and the damn dog!!.. and.. and...
I hate nights when I don't get sleep for various reasons and then I have a bad day and another bad night or three. Yep, I know whereof ye speak. I hope you have had some sleep since this post.
