Okay. Apparently I have a sense of humor even while I'm sleeping.
I dreamed about state politics last night.
Three candidates moved into my house. I had Ted Kulongoski, Karen Minnis and Ron Saxton (Oregon politicians on November's ballot) all sharing a bedroom. Every time I tried to get to the refrigerator or into the bathroom, one or two or all three were in the way. They were very intrusive! Ted, Karen and Ron, and the pocketfuls of little people they carried around with them were in an argument every time I tried to talk on the phone, watch a television show or read a book. The little people stood on countertops, sat on the arms of the couch or perched on shoulders, and whispered into Ted's, Ron's and Karen's ears whenever they were debating. Ted especially seemed quite dependent on what his people told him. He never spoke until after they told him what to say.
As I walked through the house, I kept finding pocket change all over the floor in little trails. Evidently all of them really do have money falling out of their butts! But, as in real life, the BIG money is really hard to find. Wonder where they have that hidden. Hmm.
And the intrusion into my life was parallel with what's currently going on. I can't drive to work, watch television, listen to the radio, or read a newspaper without a thousand signs, advertisements or editorials about the upcoming election.
Can't go get the mail without getting at least four flyers. No matter which politician the flyers come from, they all have the same theme. "Vote for me! My opponent is a shithead who eats small children and does mean things to his/her cat with a fork."
I'm going to be happy when all this is over. No matter who is elected, things won't improve for me, but the absence of the smell of bullshit will be refreshing.
