Manic Monday

I decided near the end of last school year that I would not be available to work Mondays this year. Between the Girl Scout troop and regular life, Mondays were just making me crazy. Trying to get from my meeting to my house to work by 1:45 was just sending me over the edge every week. When I originally accepted my job, I was scheduled to work on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for a couple hours each day. I ended up working five days, 23 hours a week within just a couple months. So, for my sanity, I decided Mondays would be my day off. I could take the Girl Scouts on field trips and not have to be worried about getting to work on time. I could take my daughter places, too. But mostly, I had this vision of peace and tranquility on Monday afternoons. Girl Scout meeting at 11, home at 1. Stirring a pot of something that smells good on the stove in my clean and neat home. Laundry caught up. Errands done over the weekend. A stolen day... a gift. A treasure. Something for me. Imagine the possibilities!

I can hear those of you who know me laughing. Stop it. It's not funny.

Here's what I did yesterday.
Up at 6:30. (slept in a bit!)

Showered, woke my daughter up, gathered the things I needed for yesterday's Girl Scout meeting.
Lyssa and I headed for Curves at 8:40. We were back home about 9:30. Lyssa showered while I ate breakfast. I showered a second time, dressed, loaded stuff into the car, folded a load of laundry and headed out the door about 10 minutes before 11. (The more astute among you are wondering why I shower before I go exercise and get all sweaty. The sad fact is, I wake up with oily hair in the morning. So oily and yucky that I won't go out that way. I shower and wash my hair before we leave for Curves. My hair is usually pretty wet when I pull it up in a ponytail. My second shower doesn't require hair washing.)
Had our Girl Scout meeting and stayed to have a little conversation after.

Got home about 1:15. I copied my grocery list from our little board on the laundry room wall, and we headed back out the door about 1:30. I took some crafty stuff back to Michael's and spent my refund plus a little on some other crafty stuff. Went to Kmart to get jeans for Eric. He only wears one kind, and so far, Kmart's the only place I can find them. Stopped at Goodwill since I was only a couple blocks away, and driving by without looking at what's there is almost sacrilege. After that, we hit the grocery store. We got home about 4:30. I ran the dishwasher while I cooked dinner, chatted with a good friend online about her new job, and my day was mostly over. My favorite online chat is Monday night... music trivia. That starts at 6 my time and goes until 7. Then of course I get dragged into the room where so many of my homeschooling friends hang out... so much for Monday. I skipped an adult GS meeting last night, because I just didn't want to go anywhere else.

Today, I'm going to catch up on the things that didn't get done yesterday. (I can hear you laughing again.)

Support me. I'm overwhelmed.
