jumble

Let's see.

We're still working on the refinance of the house. Those teeny little percentage points in an ever-changing climate (and no, we're not talking about global warming/cooling here...) add up. One day last week, if we had been willing to lock, it would have cost us $2000.00 to close.

The next day,(Friday) due to a tiny incremental drop, they owed US $18.00 at closing. So of course I told them to lock.

And a couple hours later, they called back and said that they TRIED to lock, but that the title company still wasn't done with their documentation, and that they could not.

So I worried about that all weekend, too. Those tiny increments are a big deal to me.

I got a letter about the job application. I did not have a high enough score to proceed with the application process. This time, I'm sure it was data entry at the very beginning of the test. I practiced and did a lot better this time, but I am not as fast at number/letter combos as other people I could hear typing in the room. And the rest of the test... well, let's just say I know for sure that I did well.

Okay, that's not the job for me then.

So what is?

And I'm sure it's not news to you that every job opening has a long line of applicants.

My brother lives in Michigan. He's in charge of daily operations at a military installation, and they were told to hire a guy to mow the lawns. Within the first 24 hours of the ad coming out, they had more than 300 applications. For a lawn mowing job. He said there were college graduates and executives and people with medical or legal training as well.

Things are tough all over.

I do need to do something else. Either grab another part time job or get full time work somewhere. Otherwise, the medical bills for just this simple knee thing are going to bury us. And we have insurance! It's not great insurance... but we have some coverage.

Sad.

And no, I do not think government run healthcare is the answer unless "How can we totally fuck the American People EVEN MORE?" is the question.

So I just got the morning email telling me that mortgage rates are the same this morning as they were on Friday. I think it's time to make that phone call and once again tell them to lock... and hope they can manage to do so this time.

3 additions to my musings:

Fingers crossed that they were able to lock in the rate today.

I sure hope they locked the rate. Good luck on the job hunt!

Hopefully you will get it locked in at the lower amount. Sorry you didn't get the job. Sirdar is worried about his job now and suggested I may have to find something more sustaining than the one I have. I was thinking of quitting the job I have. As for health care, I know many down there think our system is horrible but I am very thankful to be able to go get x-rays and tests and surgery when I need them without coming up with any money or paying extra for more insurance. We do that with dental and it doen't seem worth it. Of course, our taxes are high so we are just getting ripped off without seeing the money first ;-) .
